What is RYZE Mushroom Coffee?
RYZE mushroom coffee is a carefully crafted blend of organic Arabica coffee, coconut milk, MCT oil, and six functional mushrooms: Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Shiitake, and King Trumpet. Each of these mushrooms has been selected for a specific reason. Some support focus, others digestion, stress balance, or just overall wellbeing.
They all work together to boost your morning or power through that midday slump without impacting your sleep. Enjoy a smoother lift without the highs and crashes that come with regular coffee.
The result is a creamy, balanced drink that’s unlike anything else in your cabinet. Here’s the catch: it doesn’t taste like your usual coffee.
But the irony here is that once you do try it, you’ll wish you’d taken a chance on RYZE sooner! That said, what does RYZE mushroom coffee taste like?
What Does RYZE Mushroom Coffee Taste Like?
RYZE has everything you need and nothing you don’t. You’ll taste creamy coconut milk and rich, earthy notes. That is, if you enjoy it plain. Most of our customers take a different approach.
There’s no better way to get a sense of what you can expect than hearing firsthand from others who have tried RYZE. While we’ll explain the RYZE flavor profile below, here’s a quick look at what some of our customers had to say:
“Delicious mushroom coffee. I love how rich and robust it is. I add it to my brewed coffee and it makes it taste so rich and flavorful.” - Robin
“The coffee has a rich, smooth flavor without any of the bitterness you sometimes get with traditional brews. Best of all, it gives me a calm, focused energy without the jitters or crashes I usually get from regular coffee.” - Adrienne
“To my surprise, this coffee is delicious! I feared it would have an earthy flavor but to me, it tastes just like instant coffee. I've tried with a variety of dairy and dairy free milks, and prefer it as is. The coffee has the right amount of caffeine without it bothering my tummy. Will order more!” - Sonya
Taste is subjective. But this is one thing most of our customers can agree on: RYZE is DELICIOUS!
Does RYZE Taste Like Coffee in the Traditional Sense?
Not quite. RYZE might catch you off guard if you're used to a dark roast with a bitter bite. It’s smoother, lighter, and doesn’t coat your mouth with that heavy, acidic punch.
Some of this can be traced back to its lower caffeine content, but also the coconut milk and MCT oil rounding out the flavor and softening the edges. You still get a noticeable roasted note because there is organic Arabica coffee, but it’s gentler and won’t linger.
It’s love at first sip for some. Others find that it takes a few tries to get used to. But once you stop expecting a traditional coffee profile and learn to appreciate the nuanced RYZE mushroom coffee taste, you’ll look forward to that mellow, balanced flavor that’s easy to drink daily.
Does RYZE Coffee Taste Like Mushrooms?
The mushrooms are certainly there, but they’re subtle. If anything, they round out the flavor more than they define it, simply adding a bit of depth and richness rather than funk.
Most people describe the taste as “nutty,” “toasty,” or “smooth.” Some say it reminds them of a very mild mocha. And while you might pick up a slight earthiness if you’re really looking for it, it’s more of a background note than a front-and-center flavor.
Does RYZE Coffee Taste Good?
The short answer is yes. And hundreds of thousands 5-star reviews echo a similar sentiment.
That said, taste is personal and only YOU can determine how you like your RYZE. We encourage you to play around and find what works best for you.
How to Prep RYZE: Tips for Bringing Out the Best Flavor Every Time
We’re confident you’re going to enjoy RYZE. But don’t worry if you’re still on the fence about the RYZE taste. We’ve got some great tips on how to make RYZE mushroom coffee work for you.
Best Practices for Brewing
The approach you take to brewing RYZE can make a difference. Start with hot (not boiling) water at around 175-185°F.
Use 1 scoop (about a tablespoon), and mix well with 8-10 oz of water. A handheld frother or shaker bottle works best to blend everything evenly, especially with the creamy fats from coconut milk and MCT oil.
You can also try blending it for a few seconds if you crave that café-style texture. This approach will bring out a light, foamy layer and an even creamier mouthfeel.
Try to steer clear of the following for best results:
Avoid using boiling water, which can create a slightly bitter or “flat” tasteSkip ultra-sweet flavored syrups, which overpower the balanced base
Be careful with heavy dairy. It may not blend as well as plant milks and can change the texture
Don’t reheat RYZE in the microwave once it’s been mixed. It can separate or lose flavor depth
Add-Ins That Pair Well With RYZE
There’s nothing wrong with drinking RYZE “black” so to speak. But most of our customers prefer to add a little something-somthing to improve the flavor and keep things fresh and fun. Here are some of our favorite add-ins:
Oat milk or almond milk for a creamier body
Cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom for a cozy, spiced twist
Cocoa powder for a mocha-like feel
Vanilla extract or a few drops of maple syrup if you like a touch of sweetness
A scoop of collagen or protein powder to turn it into a more filling morning drink
We also have our own Superfood Creamer that’s specifically designed to bring out the full RYZE coffee taste. It’s a vegan, vanilla dream that tastes like creamy indulgence but is packed with 100% organic superfoods, hydrating coconut water, and one billion CFU of probiotics.
You’ll be surprised just how many flavors RYZE plays nicely with. Don’t be afraid to experiment with something you come up with on your own. Who knows, we might just feature it in our recipes section if you hit a home run.
Use Ryze as a Base, Not a Replacement
If you’ve come to look forward to that morning cup of coffee or your afternoon pick-me-up, the idea of replacing the flavor entirely can be tough. You don’t have to quit cold turkey, though.
Blending RYZE with your usual coffee is a great way to get the best of both worlds as you ease into the switch. You’ll still get the adaptogenic benefits of the mushrooms, like focus and calm energy, even when mixed with your regular brew.
What If You Don’t Like the Taste Right Away?
We hope you love RYZE from that very first sip, but some of our customers tell us it takes a little getting used to.
Remember, RYZE isn’t trying to copy your favorite dark roast. Sometimes your taste buds just need a minute to catch up to a new rhythm. Try adjusting the water ratio, switching up your milk, or sipping it iced if hot drinks aren’t your thing.
Oh—and who said you had to drink RYZE as if it was traditional coffee? Our community loves mixing our mushroom coffee into smoothies, baked goods, and even ice cream. You might find your favorite way to enjoy it isn’t a drink at all. We’ll share a few of our favorite recipes below.
